October 17-25 2024 – The Nature of Farming was selected for Ceres Food Film Festival that took place in NYC between the 17th and the 25th of October. We were there! Ceres is the only international film festival focused on inspiring conversations, connections, and action around the complex role of food in our lives. The Roman goddess Ceres represented the divine power of agriculture and grain. The name comes from the Latin root “cer,” which means “to grow.” The story of agriculture is the story of civilization. When we could grow our own food, modern life as we know it became possible. Thank you Mayaan Laufer and Sandra Ciccone for organizing this incredible festival.

It was exciting to participate in all the events and meet wonderful, dedicated filmmakers and food experts and activists. Isabelle participated in a debate on the Opening night at New York University. Nutrition and Food Studies Professor Jennifer Berg moderated. It was great meeting the other panelists: Jared Lipworth from Tangled Bank Studios and Karen Washington, farmer and justice activist.
